How to Use the PaintStick in Hard-to-Reach Areas

As many of you know, we moved this summer to a new (to us) hundred-year-old home with tons of charm. Since I’ve had to paint every single room, with the exception of the kitchen and laundry room, my PaintStick has gotten quite a workout!

One of the nicest features of the PaintStick is that when the handle is filled with paint, it enables you to reach areas without a ladder or scaffolding.

I was especially grateful for my PaintStick when I realized that I was going to have to paint the stairwell and upstairs hallway. Even though I loved the pale gray-green on the walls, the original paint was flat and it had been patched with the same color with an eggshell sheen. The way the light streams in through the upstairs window, it was glaringly obvious and definitely needed to be repainted.

The PaintStick couldn’t be easier to use (learn more here | purchase here). Simply use the filler tube to draw paint directly from the can. When the handle is full, it extends to 54”, which enabled me to reach the wall above the stairs without even needing to lean over the railing.

To cut in the edges up by the ceiling, I did use my ladder and just rolled horizontally:

(The PaintStick is great for rolling ceilings, too, although I do recommend that you use the spatter shield to avoid getting paint in your hair!)

I had the entire space painted so quickly that I used my spare time to hang up a garland and ribbon in preparation for the holidays! Clean up is fast, too. I dispose of my roller covers, although they can be washed and reused.
