LIFE AT ARPAN

The day starts at 9.00 am with a prayer which is followed by meditation and yoga and physical education.

The children enrolled at ARPAN are segregated in different classes such as Pre-Primary, Primary, Pre-Vocational, Vocational, class for children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Cerebral Palsy and Autism as per their Age, Intelligence and Educational levels.

Special School

Individualized Educational Program is prepared and carried out on a one-to-one basis. Activities like crayoning, painting, origami, cutting, stitching, paper bag folding, making handicraft articles, photocopying, computer training, training in household chores, money transactions.

Therapy

Children requiring therapy are provided with physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language stimulation, cognitive stimulation and behavior therapy.
We also provide dance, music, art, meditation and yoga therapy.

Lunch Break

Nutritious lunch is provided on a daily basis by the Jalaram Temple Trust, Karelibaug.

Post Lunch Period

Rhymes, Stories, Audio-Visual activities, dance, music, art and craft, outdoor sports like basketball, cricket and badminton.

Along with curricular activities, children are also engaged in co-curricular activities like outings, picnic, cultural program, festival celebrations, sports, competitions and talent shows.

Enrollment Procedure

When the child is referred to ARPAN mostly by the word of mouth he/she is assessed for all the areas of development by the team of professionals comprising of Pediatrician, Physiotherapist, Psychologist, Speech Therapist, Special Educator and Vocational Rehabilitator by way of a detailed assessment checklist.

A complete report is prepared and the parents are counseled regarding the condition of the child and as per his/her requirements the child is referred for different therapies like physiotherapy, cognitive stimulation, speech therapy, occupational therapy and sensory integration therapy.

Children who are educable are enrolled in the special school and admitted in the class as per their capabilities along with an introduction to Pre-Vocational Skills.

Those children who have academically reached a plateau of educational and cognitive skills up to 14years are then enrolled in the vocational training group to master different vocational skills.

Our Stars

  • 14 children got selected for the finals of Khel Mahakumbh (State level sports event) out of which 8 bagged prize at the State Level in different events like Soft Ball Throw, 25 meter walk, cycling, 50 meters running, cricket. They also got the cheques in respective events for securing first, second and third positions.
  • Our beneficiaries got cheques worth Rs. One Lakh FiftyThousand and it is the only NGO in the State to get this amount.
  • ARPAN beneficiaries also participate in local level sports events and bag medals in respective games and categories.
  • Children are getting prizes at Very Special Arts, a National Level drawing competition organized by New Delhi. The winner specimens are printed as greeting cards, book marks

Extra Curricular Staff Activities

At the time of the massive earth quake in Kutch, Bhuj in 2002, our staff equipped
an entire village with fresh water, grains, kerosene, gas stoves, blankets, tents,
clothes etc.

Parent’s Meet

With regards to opening of Bank accounts, Insurance, Teenage problems, Gynecological Behavior problems etc, and regular meetings are held to guide and advise parents, satisfy them of their queries and dissipate genuine knowledge in order to eradicate misconceptions.
